With solar energy to the future: EPH makes another important step on their way to sustainability

In April, the Boxberg solar park was officially commissioned, marking a significant milestone in Saxony’s renewable energy landscape. The solar park has begun supplying green electricity to the grid, contributing to the sustainable transformation of the Lusatian energy region. It will contribute to the power supply by generating up to 26,000 MWh of electricity per year.

With every new wind and solar project, we are advancing the future-proof transformation of our energy regions. We are proud to have finalized another solar project from our 8+ GW renewable energy project pipeline in Germany. It is another step in transforming the traditional energy hub to the sustainable future.

Commissioning of the Boxberg solar park, marking a major milestone in Saxony’s transition toward renewable energy and the sustainable transformation of the Lusatian region.
“The Boxberg site is set to become a hub for renewable energy, incorporating large-scale storage of green electricity and the production and use of green hydrogen.”

This initiative aims to ensure a secure and environmentally friendly power supply around the clock, reinforcing Lusatia’s role as a key energy region in Germany.

Building this new solar park was also a challenge, as it was necessary to ensure, that the 33-hectare facility blends seamlessly into the surrounding environment and includes dedicated areas for native wildlife.

The commissioning of the Boxberg solar park is a pivotal step in the transition to renewable energy in Saxony. It not only enhances the region’s green energy capacity but also exemplifies the importance of community involvement and strategic partnerships in achieving sustainable development goals.
